The We Recover Group’s mission is to serve as a community resource to those who are suffering from addiction. To create a community of connection through outreach, education, and advocacy.
The We Recover Group is a federally recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to connecting addicts and alcoholics to the resources in Lynchburg, Virginia and the surrounding area. We were incorporated in March 2020 by three founding members. The recovery community in central Virginia is often fragmented and our area has lacked a central location for recovery information. We Recover aims to fill this gap by providing an unbiased and comprehensive list of every resource we can find that is offered to people in addiction and their families. Whether you are still in active addiction or have many years of long term sobriety it is often hard to find information without already being a part of that community. We want to connect anyone interested to all the information that our community has to offer.
We also recognize that being part of a larger recovery community can drastically increase your chance of achieving meaningful, fulfilling, long-term sobriety, We recovering addicts and alcoholics spend much time in the rooms, group sessions, treatment centers, etc. but what do we do outside of these settings? Being a person in recovery can be challenging when navigating the “real world”. Especially in a time where drinking and using seems to go hand in hand with having a social life. We want to break that stigma. To provide a social outlet for all people in recovery and their friends. Which is why we are dedicated to hosting and facilitating recovery friendly events such as socials, live music, speakers, movie screenings and many more. All in an environment that is safe and comfortable for people in recovery.
